BEC + BRIDGE is a brand founded by two creatives, Bec Cooper and Bridge Yorston. The duo came together fortuitously, and quickly realised their harmonious duality to create contemporary wear for women.

From humble beginnings, the pair met on their first day of uni, and have been inseparable ever since (often showing up to work in the exact same outfit). They speak with SELECTED.CO on how they came together, their unique partnership, and how they manage an all important work/life balance.

Bec:

Most partnerships would have different focuses. We don’t have that- we end up doing quite the same thing, because we’re so used to designing collections together.

We’ve done that from the beginning, its very much a yin and yang dynamic, we bounce off each other and design better together.

Bridge:

It’s probably just been our partnership that’s kept us going. It means we make every decision together for the business, everything is very collaborative, it's always been the two of us.

I think it's kind of been the key for us, if it was too separated and we were doing different things, I just think we’d probably feel a bit disconnected.

Bec:

It was good when we had kids, we could both take breaks and the other person was across every area of the business.

Bridge:

We’ve had some challenging years, you get through it and as Bec said we always get through it together.

Bec:

It makes you better designers, better prioritisers, you can see more of the big picture... It’s allowed us to grow. We love being about to create a company culture and a business we want to work at.
